Hubdub is a news aggregator that uses a market mechanism to rank news articles by their impact on news story outcomes. It allows users to discover high quality, significant news articles related to a story; track running news stories over time; and predict outcomes in competition with other users. Successful predictors are rewarded in kudos, which gives them greater editorial control over the site and can be transferred to their other online activities.
Market Opportunity
56% of U.S. adults check news online at least once a day, with 19% checking multiple times per day (Harris/Innovation). The Newspaper Association of America reports that the U.S. online news market was worth $2.7 billion in 2006 and is growing at a rate of 19% per annum.
